This is our sweet Amira, who was born without front legs and lived as a street dog in Phuket, Thailand. She lived on the streets for 9 years, having litter after litter, and if that wasn’t hard enough, someone shot her in the head. She was brought to the Soi Dog Foundation rescue, where they treated her head wound and tried desperately to heal her liver and kidneys.
After seeing her rescue video, I immediately reached out to Soi Dog to see what I could do to help, donate, and if she ever got well enough, be her forever family. That was just under 2 years ago, and she’s been with us now for a year… an incredible year! She the craziest, sweet, feisty and friendliest dog EVER! Unbelievably, she loves everyone and trusts us completely. She’s up for anything and loves going out on the water in the canoe or on the paddle board. She has a custom wheelchair but can also fly around, faster than you can imagine, on her little nubs. She loves being chased and looks like a little kangaroo as she runs from room to room on all the yoga mats we have laid down to soften her landings.
Being this sweet, special angel’s “mom“ is such a privilege and we want to give her the life that she has always deserved. Her strength and resilience is inspiring! She has no idea that she’s different and doesn’t let anything get her down. I wish that everyone could meet her, to see that special needs dogs are no different from any other dog, just more special. She has so much to teach us about love, trust, fearlessness and forgiveness. She is our Warrior Princess.
